Parent support groups are a great way to meet other parents for practical and emotional support. Most support groups are set up and run by parents and carers of children with additional needs. Some professionals and organisations, particularly children centres, run their own groups. Contact a Family started life as a self-help group for parents, and from our 30 years' experience as an organisation we know that parents can be the best support for one another. Join the local group network Contact a Family oversees a network of local parent support groups. By being part of the network you will be able to contact other local groups across the country. You might benefit from working with other groups because you: - are based in the same area - run the same condition specific group, e.g. Cerebral Palsy - both face similar problems or issues, e.g. attracting new members - have already tackled a difficulty or found a solution to a problem that others might find useful - have resources that could be shared, e.g. space in a venue, a policy or a piece of equipment. What do we offer? We offer members of the local group network: - Promotion within our quarterly magazine Connected: http://www.cafamily.org.uk/advice-and-support/resource-library/?k=connected+magazine - Connected delivered to your door - Our resource pack on planning and reviewing information to share with other members in your group - Access to our information network (visit our In Your Area pages for local office listings: http://www.cafamily.org.uk/advice-and-support/in-your-area/). Joining the network is free. Download the local group network application form if you want to join with your group: http://www.cafamily.org.uk/media/801775/local_group_network_application_form-5.docx.
