Why did Scope decide to be a part of the SEND Consortium?
Offering services which give disabled people and their families’ choice and control over how they live their lives, demonstrates our commitment to making this country a place where everyone has the same opportunities. We’re proud to be a founding member and partner of SENDirect and to be able to offer families an excellent quality service, which can create real and lasting change by sourcing and promoting excellence across services for parents of disabled children and young people.
What is it that makes Scope unique?
Scope exists to make this country a place where disabled people have the same opportunities as everyone else. Until then, we’ll be here. We provide support, information and advice to more than a quarter of a million disabled people and their families every year.
And we raise awareness of the issues that disabled people and their families tell us matter.
Parents of disabled children have told us it’s difficult to access the right information to make choices about their children’s lives and the SEN Green Paper describes systems that are bureaucratic and hard to navigate. Being one of the founding organisations of SENDirect since 2011, has allowed us to be part of the solution to this issue and to realise a shared vision of offering parents and young people access to information, that allows them to be in control of decisions about the support they need to thrive.
Working together, we’ll keep driving change across society until this country is great for everyone.
